Jesus R. Ibarra, PA-C

Physician assistant specializing in urology and men’s health

Jesus R. Ibarra, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in urology and men’s health at Urology Specialists of Austin. His interest in medicine began during his time serving in the military, where he was inspired by a physician assistant he observed in action. That experience motivated him to change his major and pursue a career in medicine.

Jesus developed an interest in urology while attending PA school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. One of his most influential lecturers was a practicing urology physician assistant whose enthusiasm and positive attitude toward his work made a lasting impression on Jesus. He quickly recognized the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while helping address a wide range of urologic and men’s health concerns.

Jesus earned his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. In addition to his clinical training, he has experience and certifications related to trauma and triage medicine. He also serves as a Captain in the Air National Guard.

His clinical interests focus primarily on men’s health and general urology. Jesus treats conditions including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), low testosterone, erectile dysfunction (ED), prostatitis, overactive bladder (OAB), recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs), elevated or changing PSA levels, kidney stones, hydroceles, genital warts, and Peyronie’s disease (PD).

Jesus utilizes a variety of diagnostic and treatment techniques, including shockwave therapy, cystoscopy, transrectal ultrasound of the prostate (TRUS/TRUSP), and hydrocele aspiration. He takes a thoughtful approach to treatment and believes in the philosophy that “less is more,” focusing on providing appropriate care while avoiding unnecessary intervention whenever possible.

Patients can expect Jesus to bring a positive and approachable attitude to their visits. He believes in working with patients to understand their concerns and find appropriate solutions. When a patient’s care requires additional expertise, he collaborates with urologists and other specialists as needed to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.

Outside of medicine, Jesus enjoys staying active through running, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. He also enjoys walking as a simple way to stay active. A fun fact about Jesus is that he has two Chihuahuas. He has also served in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, continuing his commitment to service through his role in the Air National Guard.
